Gena: I do think that "a firm foundation of support" is crucial for positive action. It's much harder for individuals alone to stand up to violence but if a large group is willing to stand together it will make a much larger impact. There was a story in Kurlansky's book about citizens in Peshawar (Pakistan, 1920s) standing in a line a getting shot at by the military - as people were shot others moved in to take their place. Many died but it also recruited many more people for the cause against violence. Now that's brave!

Great essay! I like the idea that responding to violence by "standing firm in love and peace" can ignite peace and social progress. It would require a firm foundation of support, determination, education, and faith not to react automatically with more violence, and I see a lack of these resources on the part of the victims of violence as the biggest obstacle to peace.

I received an update from Musindo this week. He writes,

"Dear sister Tanya,
It is with much pleasure that I thank you so much again for all your services to God's people around the world. Many people are being enriched spiritually, economically, physically and socially through your outreach services. This is truly God's spirit in action.

Solar panels cost US$150-200. The solar panel can power the computer and the printer for a long time using free solar energy.

Thank you again for all your prayers, support, love, guidance and encouragement.
In God,s Love
Musindo"

Hi Tanya...I am sorry to have missed the opportunity to meet with you again while you were in MN! I imagine it is good to be home near family.

I wish you would please consider joining the CFOI board - lots of overseas needs and some Board Members do not know about SIA! Our ballot does not go out until later in May and I can still add your name since you were very happily approved at our North America meeting in January. We need YOU! I miss your input and wise thoughts and prayers.

I believe SIA is doing a major part of what CFOI was meant to be doing -- and we need to be supportive in anyway we can. Thus, meeting and greeting could be a start. Blessings and Love to you and Boyd. Julie

However, I am still making the chicken pincushions for the money for the seed project - honoring both Del and Gloria. I have a new quilt shop in Florida that is willing to display them for sale. Also, I purchased an Easter Basket for display since that is more appealing -- will get a picture to you when possible.
